Nutrition: Why Bother With Meal Prep?

Meal prep is simply preparing food ahead of time that lines up with your health goals. It helps you stay on track, especially when motivation is low.

Meal prep should take stress away, not add to it

Planning your meals helps you stay consistent by reducing stress and making the right food choices easier. Many people put it off because they think it takes too much effort or it's too restrictive. It's actually much easier than you think.

It doesn't mean eating a perfect diet or following a rigid plan.

Five steps to successful meal prep

  1. Know your goals.
Plan your meals based on your health goals.
  2. Cook in batches.
Two hours, once a week, several portions at a time.
  3. Structure your meals.
Carbs, protein and healthy fats, plus fruit and veg.
  4. Keep healthy snacks.
Get creative with snacks you'd actually enjoy, like yoghurt with berries, protein balls or beef jerky.
  5. Stay flexible.
Leave room for meals out and the odd treat, so your diet is one you can stick to long term. It won't be worth it if you're miserable!
Remember

Food is meant to be enjoyed! Prep meals you look forward to eating.
