Movement: What Counts as Movement?
Movement is any time you're up and using your body. Walking to the shops, carrying the shopping in, playing with your kids, swimming at the beach.
Every one of those is getting the blood flowing.
All movement counts
None of it has to be planned, and none of it has to be difficult. A few minutes on your feet, several times through the day, adds up faster than most people expect.
This is the part of your health that doesn't need a gym or any equipment. It's also the part most people can easily implement into their life.
What counts
- Walking anywhere, at any pace.
- Stairs instead of the lift.
- Housework, gardening, carrying shopping.
- A swim or a bike ride.
- Getting up and about between tasks.
Remember
The movement already in your day is worth more than you think. Start by noticing it, then add to it.
