Consistency: What Do You Do When You're Stuck?
Some days, the full session or the full plan feels like too much. Those are the days when most routines stall.
When the full plan feels like too much, take the smallest step you can
Progress comes from nailing the basics day after day, even on the days when it's the last thing you want to do. A small action on a hard day keeps your habit going and stops one bad day turning into a lost week.
The all-or-nothing trap
All-or-nothing thinking says that if you can't do something properly, there's no point doing it at all. A 45-minute session becomes no session. One bad meal becomes a bad day.
That thinking feels logical in the moment. In practice, it turns a small setback into a lost week.
The smallest possible action
- Can't face the gym? Do ten minutes at home.
- No energy to cook? Add a piece of fruit to whatever you're eating.
- Can't do your usual walk? Walk to the end of the street and back.
Something is always better than nothing.
