Consistency: What Do You Protect When Life Gets Busy?

Some weeks, there isn't time for everything. A deadline, a house move or a busy season at work can squeeze out your usual routine.

When you can't do everything, protect what makes the most difference to you

That looks different for everyone. For one person it's their sleep. For someone training for a marathon, it might be their long run. Keep those habits going. The rest is much easier to pick back up when things calm down.

Finding your floors

A floor is the minimum you'd hit on your worst day. When life gets busy, drop to your floors rather than stopping altogether.

  • Pick the two or three habits that make the biggest difference to you.
  • Shrink each one until you'd still do it on a terrible day.
  • Write them down, so you're not deciding when you're already stretched.
Remember

When life gets busy, shrink your routine. Don't stop it.
