Recovery Beyond Sleep

Sleep does most of your recovery. But it isn't the only thing that decides whether you feel worn down by the end of the week.

Recovery is more than sleep

Recovery is what your body does to repair itself from the rigours of life. Most of that happens overnight, which is why sleep comes first in this section and why it's worth sorting before anything else.

The rest comes from the food you eat, light movement to promote blood flow, and giving your mind a chance to switch off.

The other parts

  • Eating properly, particularly on the days you've trained.
  • Easy movement on your days off. A walk, a swim, an hour in the garden.
  • Time away from stress, so your mind gets a rest too.
Remember

Sleep does the heavy lifting. Good food, light movement and a rested mind do the rest.

General information, not medical advice. If you've an existing condition or you're unsure about starting something new, speak to a qualified professional first.
